Your Healthcare at Illinois
The Mental Health Clinic provides evaluation consultation for a variety of emotional and behavior difficulties. Medication and short-term psychotherapy are provided for you when needed. The staff of mental health professionals include psychiatry, clinical psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, case manager and registered nurse. You will need to meet with your Primary Care at McKinley Health Center to determine the eligibility and/or continuation of your medication.
At Illinois, we believe having a clinician who is familiar with you and your needs increases the quality of care you receive. If you are enrolled full-time (6 credit hours in the fall or spring and 3 credit hours in the summer), you are charged a Health Service Fee as part of your tuition and fees and immediately assigned a Primary Care Provider. This fee is mandatory and cannot be waived to cover most services provided by McKinley Health Center and the Counseling Center. You do NOT need health insurance to access McKinley Health Center.
Services Covered by the Health Service Fee:
-
Office Visits with Providers
-
Visits at the Mental Health Unit
-
Limited Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, and Clinical Massages
Prescriptions and Immunizations:
-
Most prescriptions will have either a nominal co-pay or charge. The health service fee does not cover the cost of immunizations
