Medical Services at Illinois

Whether you’re sick, injured, or need your prescriptions filled, the McKinley Health Center provides you high-quality ambulatory healthcare and health education for your success in college.

The Mental Health Clinic provides evaluation consultation for a variety of emotional and behavior difficulties. Medication and short-term psychotherapy are provided for you when needed. The staff of mental health professionals include psychiatry, clinical psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, case manager and registered nurse.  You will need to meet with your Primary Care at McKinley Health Center to determine the eligibility and/or continuation of your medication.

At Illinois, we believe having a clinician who is familiar with you and your needs increases the quality of care you receive.  If you are enrolled full-time (6 credit hours in the fall or spring and 3 credit hours in the summer), you are charged a Health Service Fee as part of your tuition and fees and immediately assigned a Primary Care. This fee is mandatory and cannot be waived to cover most services provided by McKinley Health Center and the Counseling Center.

Services Covered by the Health Service Fee:

Other Services That May Require Additional Charges:

  • Care received outside McKinley Health Center (including referrals)

  • Immunizations and some lab tests

  • A $5 co-pay for most prescriptions at the Pharmacy + medication cost

  • Contraceptives (IUD’s, Nexplanon, Depo injections)

You can speak to a medical professional from the comfort of your home. Services may include primary care services, mental health services, telemedicine (e.g., medication prescribing) or other health care services within the scope of practice.
