Title
Counseling Center

Body

Our counselors at the Counseling Center consist of psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors. All of our counselors receive clinical training throughout the year via professional conferences and workshops, and all of our counselors have been trained to manage most student needs within our scope of service. The clinical services we offer include: time-limited individual therapy; group counseling; specialized assessments (alcohol/drug use, eating concerns, and suicidal ideation/risk assessments); and skills-based workshops.

Title
McKinley Health Center

Body

McKinley’s staff of mental health professionals include psychiatry, clinical psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, case manager and registered nurse. Limited psychiatry services are available by referral from McKinley primary caregivers.

Acute assessment (Emergency Triage) is available 8am-4pm weekdays for students experiencing a mental health crisis.  Triage is focused on the assessment of the client’s safety, possible harm to self or others and, as needed, may include transfer to a local hospital for further assessment and possible admission. When appropriate and as time permits the clinician may introduce interventions, coping skills, campus resources, and community therapy options.

Title
Psychological Services Center (PSC)

Body

PSC strives to serve psychotherapy using culturally relevant, strength-based, and evidence-based approaches.  PSC also strives to be sensitive to the effects of diversity-related issues such as oppression and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, identity, religion, age, immigration status, military status, legal record, or other forms of intolerance.

Most of PSC therapy and group services are offered by pre-licensed, masters-level clinical trainees under the supervision of doctoral level faculty from the Illinois Clinical-Community Psychology program.  Some services where indicated may be offered by doctoral level psychologists.

Title
Chez Veterans Center

Body

Students who are military-connected (Veteran, National Guard/Reservist, or Dependent) who are facing mental health challenges may visit the Chez Veterans Center for support.  The center offers access to an in-house clinician who provides therapy and can also connect students with specialized providers through the Danville VA for interventions tailored to issues like PTSD or MST. These services are available to eligible degree-seeking students and address mental health needs, whether related to military service or not.
